Raw Shea Butter Properties and the Products that It can be Used For

The creamy coloured, unrefined, raw shea butter has miraculous moisturising, anti-ageing, healing and anti-inflammatory properties whilst being naturally high in minerals and Vitamins A, D and E. It is considered a super food for the skin because of its richness in unsaturated fats with a large proportion of non-saponifiable components, essential fatty acids and allantoin.

Healing Properties: Shea butter’s healing properties are attributed to the presence of six essential fatty acids and plant sterols, including, linoleic, arachidic, oleic, palmitic, stearic and linoleum acid. Shea butter is more non-saponifiable than other nuts oils and fats thus making it a great healing potential for the skin. Raw, unrefined shea butter has properties that can cure skin rashes, sun burn, stretch marks, frost bites, athletes foot, insect bites, stings, burns and muscle fatigue.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties: Several derivatives of cinnamic acid are present in raw shea butter and these have anti-inflammatory properties, which are beneficial for the improvement of skin conditions whilst at the same time being essential to maintaining the skin’s elasticity and suppleness.
Antioxidant Qualities: Raw shea butter has more antioxidants than Green Tea! Plant oxidants such as the naturally high moisturising Vitamins A and E are present in raw shea butter. The vitamins A and E protect the cells from environmental damage and free radicals. Skin damage is prevented from ultraviolet radiation due to the cinnamic acid esters that are present in the shea fat.

What with its high nutrient content and health benefits raw shea butter is particularly good for moisturising skin, lip and hair care protection and softener products.
